Reading time:

Whilst on her five-month-long journey of exploration through China, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Egypt, Italy and Iran for her project The Ruins of Time: Lost Libraries of the Silk Road Abigail Reynolds wrote about her experiences, and the first three lost libraries that she visited are published in print and online in The Serving Library a cooperatively-built archive that assembles itself by publishing. The Serving Library consists of a public website, small physical library and a publishing program. Reynolds full diary entries will be published in full on the website by the end of the month. In the meantime short excerpts and photographs from each of the sixteen libraries are online here.

On April 1st Abigail will be showing some of the 16mm film she took whilst discussing libraries with Lauren Mackler (editor of The Serving Library #13) at the opening of the new space on Water Street that The Serving Library will occupy in Liverpool as part of The Liverpool Biennial.
